Company Profile

Syntens, business innovation network, supports business people in small and medium-sized enterprises through countless activities and projects in the broadest sense of the word. The aim is to increase the revenue of Dutch sme’s by means of stimulating innovation.
The Syntens consultants work independently and match the entrepreneur to the right (market) parties via their extensive network of companies and institutes. Syntens is a not-for-profit organisation, which operates in and with companies that want to innovate. Syntens’ advice stretches to the first crucial phases of innovation: finding the challenge and the best path for its solution.
Syntens operates in six sectors, namely industry, human health, construction, creative industry, wholesale & logistics, food & agri. For Syntens human health means medical technology, life sciences and health care.

Science and Technologies or Services

Syntens offers a large number of innovation services to Dutch SME’s. With a central office in Nieuwegein, near Utrecht, and fifteen regional offices throughout the Netherlands, there is a low geographical barrier to obtain solid advice from Syntens. Thanks to this regional network structure Syntens consultants are always close to the entrepreneur. Furthermore, Syntens has no commercial interests because the Department of Economic Affairs and other parties in the public sector attach a great deal of importance to innovation. Hence, they finance Syntens’ activities. This also allows Syntens to operate independent, free of commercial interest and at no cost to the entrepreneur. In exchange the entrepreneur is expected to display inquisitiveness, effort and involvement.

An important international service of Syntens is its cooperation in the IRC Network: Whether you are hoping to acquire a technology to overcome a business problem, or want to promote a technology of your own to potential partners in other countries, IRC will assist you to create a technology profile in English, using the correct keywords to describe the requirements or your offer. The IRC will locate appropriate potential partners across Europe with the help of the IRC Network’s powerful infrastructure.  More information: irc@syntens.nl or call 088 – 444 0 777

Recently the topsector plan Life Sciences & Health was published and presented to Minister Verhagen, of the so-called ELI Ministry. The document is an amazing compressed 60-pager, based on months of hard work by the group of experts chaired by Roel Fonville, and summarizes the conclusions after dozens of 1-to-1 meetings, five regional group sessions with dozens of opinion leaders and after having received over 170 (!) memo's, white papers and letters of intent.
