A-SKIN Nederland BV is a start-up from VUmc Amsterdam, and is positioned as a tissue engineering service company developing and commercialising autologous skin products from her GMP skin culture laboratory. Current customers are located in hospitals, out-patient clinics and (long term) care facilities in the Netherlands. In the coming years the patented A-SKIN autologous skin culture technique and related products will be made available trough out-licensing and daughter companies in other European countries and beyond.
With Tiscover® A-SKIN Nederland BV offers patients and professionals a novel and superior product for healing chronic, inert skin wounds. This product fills an unmet medical need in the treatment of various skin ulcers such as due to decubitus, diabetes or vascular malfunctioning.
Science and Technologies or Services
A-SKIN Nederland BV has an exclusive license from VUmc for its proprietary know-how on rapid culturing of autologous skin patches starting from small biopsies. Tiscover® is autologous full thickness skin cultured from small (3mm ø) punch biopsies from patient own healthy skin. For constructing a Tiscover patch of 1.5 cm2 only 2 biopsies of 3 mm ø are needed. Tiscover® consists of a fully differentiated epidermis on a fibroblast-populated human dermis, stimulates wound healing and closes the inert wound. Since the resulting transplants do not contain animal ingredients and are derived from patients’ own skin, no immunological rejection occurs. Tiscover® is the first cultured autologous skin product worldwide for the treatment of such ulcers.Alliances
