LSCA welcomes big pharma and invests in proof-of-concept projects. It´s our business!
During these matchmaking sessions, the innovative research taking place in Amsterdam, was presented in concrete and unique propositions. The combined offer of the cooperative tech transfer offices has already led to requests to pursue research collaborations. Through such partnering developments, valuable research taking place here in Amsterdam can stimulate innovation that leads to better understanding of disease and potential treatment.
As stated by one of the pharmaceutical companies: “The initiative of the whole LSCA team as well as the excellent contributions of all academic investigators from Amsterdam, are very much valued by our team. We are looking forward to fruitful follow-up interactions on a couple of particular projects”.
The LSCA invests in proof-of-concept projects. The LSCA has a Validation fund, with a goal to enable further validation of research in order to take it one step further to exploitation; this can mean commercialization through spin-off or licensing. During the previous six months, 36 proposals were submitted, of which 10 obtained funding.
One of the funded proposals was: “Increasing Therapeutic Efficacy of IgG’s in Melanoma”. Dr. Gestur Vidarsson of Sanquin Research will collaborate with Marjolein van Egmond of VU University Medical Center to validate the efficacy of IgG3, a subspecies of the most frequently occurring human antibody, in a melanoma model.
