Merck aims for FDA approval of 5 drug candidates
Merck & Co. said it will apply for FDA approval of extended-release diabetes drug Janumet, hepatitis C treatment boceprevir and three other medicines this year to make up for losing $4.7 billion when generic versions of its asthma drug Singulair reach the market in 2012.
The company said it has four drugs under review in the U.S. and Europe and more than 20 drug candidates in Phase III development.
