Genzyme, Sanofi at Odds Over Threshold Price
Genzyme and France's Sanofi-Aventis are continuing their discussions about a takeover of the U.S. biotechnology company. But people familiar with the matter said the two sides remain at odds about a "threshold" price at which Sanofi could begin due diligence on Genzyme.
The threshold price has been one of the biggest sticking points in recent talks and the main reason why the parties haven't progressed further. At one point last week, Sanofi was considering whether to go "hostile" on its offer, but the two sides have decided to remain in friendly talks for now, these people added.
