"Sanofi makes an informal offer to acquire Genzyme"
Sanofi-Aventis informally approached Genzyme about a possible takeover, as the French drugmaker seeks to bolster its presence in the biologics market, sources told the Wall Street Journal.
The biotech firm's officials are trying to assess what price Sanofi would be willing to pay before deciding whether to proceed with formal talks, the sources said.
