Second 2010 LSCA Industry Day event held in June

During these matchmaking sessions, the innovative research taking place in Amsterdam, was presented in concrete and unique propositions. The combined offer of the cooperative tech transfer offices has already led to requests to pursue research collaborations. Through such partnering developments, valuable research taking place here in Amsterdam can stimulate innovation that leads to better understanding of disease and potential treatment.

On 15 June, Life Sciences Center Amsterdam welcomed the second major international pharmaceutical company to visit in 2010. Researchers and clinicians from AMC, Parelsnoer Initiative, Sanquin, and VU/VUmc, presented detailed and comprehensive views of Amsterdam-area research regarding autoimmune and inflammatory disease. The visiting company was well represented by 7 visitors covering a wide range of business functions and encompassing significant authority to pursue research collaborations.

The lead contact from the company expressed enthusiastic interest in the high quality research that was on display during the day:

"The initiative of the whole LSCA team as well as the excellent contributions of all academic investigators from Amsterdam are very much valued by our team; please extend our appreciation again to everyone involved."

After the visit, the company expressed intent to follow up by exploring research collaborations in 3 areas which the company felt were novel and well-defined. The company will visit again during the week of 6 September to meet with researchers in these specific areas.
