Biomedica 2010

17-18 March 2010-As one of the key summits in Europe, Biomedica symbolizes the success of life science in the Top Technology Region from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. In less than four years it has become one of the most important European interdisciplinary congresses dedicated to science meeting business.

It was launched in Aachen in 2007, held in Maastricht in 2008, and was hosted in Liège in 2009. In the upcoming years, starting in Aachen in 2010, Biomedica will focus more on top technology centres across the entire Euregio, being Aachen, Eindhoven, Hasselt, Leuven, Liège and Maastricht.

Biomedica Summit focus topics are:

  • Biofunctional materials, engineering and devices;
  • Advanced development for (bio) pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals;
  • Disease-specific diagnostics and personalized medicine;
  • Integrated care solutions & services;
  • Business development and product innovations.

Recently the topsector plan Life Sciences & Health was published and presented to Minister Verhagen, of the so-called ELI Ministry. The document is an amazing compressed 60-pager, based on months of hard work by the group of experts chaired by Roel Fonville, and summarizes the conclusions after dozens of 1-to-1 meetings, five regional group sessions with dozens of opinion leaders and after having received over 170 (!) memo's, white papers and letters of intent.
