AMC Medical Business Park
The AMC is the largest Dutch university medical center. The AMC Campus is home to the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Medicine, the School of Nursing, the School of Physiotherapy as well as the Food Research and Management Institutes of Amsterdam’s University of Professional Education (Hogeschool van Amsterdam). Several national Royal Academy research institutes linked to the university are also based on the AMC Campus: the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN) and the medical department of the Royal Tropical Institute.
The AMC Campus is currently being developed into a Medical Business Park, with focus on medical and education related organizations. AMC’s goal is to attract Life Sciences companies active in biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, and patient care systems, and to promote the creation of new businesses.
In the initial business park development phase, AMC is creating 100,000 square meters of new space for laboratories and offices. Furthermore, land will be available for Greenfield developments, and an incubator for start-ups and small companies is being established. A hotel too has been provided for.
AMC facilitates start-up companies and helps newly established companies in various ways. In the past years, over ten biomedical spin-off companies have been founded based on inventions from the AMC, all located on the AMC Campus.
