The Lipid Research Group

AMT was founded by researchers from the AMC to develop gene therapies. The Lipid Research Group of prof. Kastelein at the AMC -a leading group in the field of lipoprotein metabolism- exclusively licensed the intellectual property from its LPL related research to AMT for the development of a gene therapy. AMT also exclusively licensed intellectual property on LPL originating from professor Hayden and owned by UBC and used UBC's LPL deficient animal models for its pre-clinical development program in this field. A clinical trial for LPL deficient patients at the AMC is aimed to start end of 2005.
