The International Antiviral Therapy Evaluation Center (IATEC)
Before the official establishment of IATEC, the Dutch government
provided support to set up the Dutch National AIDS Therapy Evaluation
Center (NATEC) in 1990 by the Academic Medical Center. IATEC was
established in 1999 to take over the international activities of NATEC.
Today IATEC is an independent professional organization with a clearly
defined structure and combines an academic interest in innovative
clinical research with adherence to the highest ethical and regulatory
standards. IATEC's primary focus remains HIV/AIDS, but activities have
been expanded to include hepatitis B and C and Varicella Zoster virus
infections.
