Technology transfer, Licensing opportunities & Intellectual Property

The Amsterdam BioMed Cluster provides access to patent expertise, patent support and related financing through its newly-created Life Sciences Center Amsterdam.

Five knowledge institutes together have combined part of their technology transfer activities in the Life Sciences Center Amsterdam, with the aim to take advantage of potential synergies between their portfolios and to assist in (business) cases coming from both the institutes and companies within the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. The knowledge institutes involved are the University of Amsterdam/ Swammerdam Institute of Life Sciences, Netherlands Cancer Institute, Academic Medical Center, VU University Amsterdam/VU University Medical Centre, and Sanquin. In general, the technology transfer mission of the Life Sciences Center Amsterdam is to facilitate the commercialisation of research results for the public good and to be a catalyst in the economic growth of the life sciences.

Currently, each of the institutes participating in the Life Sciences Center Amsterdam keeps a website where technologies and/or contacts to discuss new technologies are made available.
